China applies anti dumping tariffs to EU fasteners  (28 December, 2009)

On December 23, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced a preliminary ruling in its anti-dumping investigation against steel fasteners from the European Union initiated in December 2008. The announcement says, 'there exists dumping of certain iron or steel fasteners imported from the EU, which triggers substantial damages on Chinese certain iron or steel fasteners industry and there is cause and effect between dumping and substantial damages'.
From December 28 2009 Chinese Customs started to collect a preliminary dumping duty of 24.6 percent on a range of fastener products similar to that covered by the EU's own anti dumping regulation against China, brought into force at the beginning of 2009. The products include woodscrews, self tapping screws, bolts and socket screws, and flat and spring washers. Nuts are not included.
